I have been making homemade waffles ever since I could climb up on a stool. I grew up eating waffles almost every single weekend and to this day, my Mom still makes us waffles…even for dinner!
There’s such a difference between a waffle made from homemade batter and what you get from a box. I wanted to create a waffle recipe that was made in one bowl so it is super simple. There’s no whipping up the egg whites and folding them in. This is a one bowl waffle recipe that can be whipped up in less than 5 minutes.

Pin ItIn a large bowl, add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
Stir in buttermilk, eggs, egg white, melted butter, oil, and vanilla. Fold together until mixed well.
Heat waffle iron until ready. Spray with non-stick cooking spray or coat with butter. Pour waffle batter into waffle iron and bake until golden.
Remove from waffle maker and place on cooling rack to allow the steam to escape, if not eating right away.
Top with butter, maple syrup, homemade whipped cream, and fresh fruit.
If you don't have buttermilk on hand, use whole or 2% milk mixed with 2 Tablespoons of vinegar. Set aside for at least 10-15 minutes to start the thickening process.
