After news broke earlier this week that Celine Dion would be sharing the experience of her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome in an upcoming album, fans wondered exactly how the superstar singer was faring. Now, we all know. Tonight, at the 66th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, the iconic singer presented the award for Album of the Year — but not before giving a heartfelt message that'll give us all hope that she's going to return to the stage soon.
Dion came out with a sharp lob and cozy-looking camel coat from Valentino's new couture collection. While the award ended up going to Taylor Swift and her album, Midnights, it was easy to forget that Dion's appearance was a major moment in itself. She had a shimmering Tiffany & Co. necklace on under her coat and wore a sweetheart-neckline pink dress (also Valentino couture) and Gianvito Rossi shoes.
"When I say that I'm happy to be here, I really mean it from my heart," she said. "Those who have been blessed enough to be here at the Grammy Awards must never take for granted the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives and to people all around the world. And now, it gives me great joy to present a Grammy Award that two legends, Diana Ross and Sting, presented to me 27 years ago."
Dion has five Grammy Awards. Her documentary, I Am: Celine Dion, doesn't have a release date yet.
Tonight's Grammys had more than its fair share of diva appearances. Not only did Mariah Carey open the show, but Christina Aguilera also presented tonight. That makes for three bona fide VH1 divas in one night — and almost too much star power to handle.
