Nothing says love like a smoothie, right? 🙂
I love love love Valentine’s Day, but not in the fancy-dinner-prix-fixe dinner sort of way. I love it for of all of the cute things that remind me of being a little kid… tiny paper cards, homemade cupcakes with pink frosting, heart shaped candies… so in the spirit of being crafty, I made this 3-layer fruit smoothie!
I always see layered fruit smoothies on Instagram and think, “who the heck has time to make three separate smoothies?” – but here I am doing it. It actually was pretty simple, and while I won’t be doing this every single morning, I think it’s fun as a special occasion fruit smoothie.
Layered Fruit Smoothie Recipe Ingredients
Every layer of this fruit smoothie has almond milk in it, which gets the blender moving and adds creaminess. Otherwise, they contain unique ingredients to make each layer delicious and distinct:
Layer 1: Chocolate Almond Butter
Almond butter adds protein & delicious richness.Dates sweeten it up.Cocoa powder makes it super chocolaty. And banana gives it a smooth, creamy texture.Layer 2: Banana Vanilla
Banana fills it with banana flavor and makes the texture smooth & luscious.Dates add extra sweetness. And vanilla extract gives it a full, almost buttery vanilla taste.Layer 3: Red Berry
Frozen strawberriesAnd frozen raspberries blend together to make an icy, sweet/tart combo.Pro tip: Any of these three fruit smoothies is delicious on its own!
The only fussy part here is that you have to freeze each layer – just enough for it to set a little bit – before adding the next.
This fruit smoothie is not only super cute, but it’s a yummy three-flavors-in-one treat as well.
